The breakdown
Sentient Collective is in search of an experienced film editor to work hand in hand with us on post production of our feature documentary, Sentient. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a valuable and positive impact on serious social, justice, and ecological issues that our planet faces today, and believes in the purpose and vision of our film, and our collective.
Why is this role important for Sentient Collective?
Sentient is a film of great importance to us. We have spent a lot of time crafting it out of love, however it is not a task that can be completed with the limited members we do have. In order to complete this film, we require other talented and creative minds to join us. As an editor at Sentient Collective, you’ll play a crucial role in sculpting the vision, flow and feel of the final cut of Sentient.
Once you are here you will
Work with our DOP and Executive Producer to edit and finalize the first cut of Sentient.
Review all footage and select scenes according to the vision of the film.
Help to piece together a comprehensive story from a variety of locations and angles, and edit frame by frame as needed, to support the dialogue and complete the film.
Collaborate with Sound Editors, Sound Effects Editors, Cinematographers and soundtrack artists.
Relevant experience
At least 3 years working experience in film editing and production.
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
Extensive experience in Adobe Premiere, and Photoshop. After Effects is a huge plus.
Experience working with RED Raw R3D files and footage.
Able to work within the timeline established by the DOP and producer in order to turn the film around on deadline with initial, uncut version and with revisions.
Self-directed toward excellent work outcomes, and comfortable and able to thrive in ambiguous, non-rules based environments.
Compelling interpersonal networking, communication, and presentation skills.
You are flexible and open to new ideas.
You are extremely detail-oriented, and have excellent follow-through, devoted to seeing tasks complete.
An unrelenting passion to change this world for the better through your craft.
